Today the words of Grandma Harris ring loudly in my ears!
No prayer, no power. Little prayer, little power. Much prayer, MUCH POWER!
(Praying Grandma)
In a person with a fervent prayer life, you will notice a peace that not many have. They may go through struggles and cry sometimes, but God always brings them through. They will not stand for, or agree with things that they know don’t please God. They discern spiritual things when everyone else believes it’s okay, and you will see what they said comes to fruition. They may not have many friends they hang out with because their mindset is different, their thoughts are different and always on the mind of God. Seeking to please God in every way. They may not battle in words or actions finding it ineffective, but will battle in prayer, and watch things change that others wouldn’t believe will change. They are not up for criticism of others, or seeking to be your enemy, but instead going before the Lord and praying for themselves first to have better understanding, to help them show love and compassion when it is hard, and to look inside of them for any fault that’s not right before God. They will then pray for the person a prayer of love, understanding and positive influence that they may even come to know the love of Christ and through Christ there is change. A person of prayer will be humble first, but not manipulated. They may have a quiet way about them, that others may not understand. Their battle is fought in the spiritual realm rather than the natural and what we see. Some don’t even know the extent of the prayer life of that person because they go into the secret place with God, not advertising what they do, but humbly and quietly seeking the face of God alone, and sometimes even as they walk and sit with others without mouths moving, but deep in their spirit talking to God when no one knows. A person of prayer may go through some terrible things because evil always seeks to destroy what God is doing, but after the tears, after the struggle, after the pain, God will have helped them to endure, giving them a peace and strength like never before. They are pressing toward the mark of the High calling of Jesus Christ! For the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much as they go into the Secret place of the Almighty, Hidden in the Shadow of His Wings to tear down strongholds, standing against the wiles of the enemy, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God, for the pulling down of strongholds! Standing upon the rock that is higher! For God is their refuge, a very present help in the time of trouble, fearing no evil but trusting in the Lord with all their heart and leaning not on their own understanding. Knowing that God will supply all their needs according to His riches in Glory in Christ Jesus!
